St Columbo High

ST COLUMBA HIGH

Congregation, originally known as the English Free Church to emphasise the language of worship, dates from the Disruption of the Church of Scotland 1843, but rejoined the Church of Scotland in 1929. Built 1852 by MacKenzie and Matthews in Perpendicular Gothic Style. Beautiful rose window above the chancel- visitors can ask to see a plan depicting the Biblical stories illustrated. Present building was heavily damaged by fire in 1940 and rebuilt by the voluntary work of the members of the congregation, using 'tip-up' seating from the former La Scala cinema.

The congregation is now known as 'St Columba New Charge', and will shortly be moving to a new site in the southern suburbs of of the city.

Sunday services at 10.30am.
